Shining example of...

"A Peel Regional plainclothes officer who investigated drug offenders is himself facing serious drug charges, but the news has been kept quiet.". The full article is http://www.mississauga.com/news/article/1107470--officer-facing-drug-charges

Okay there's two things here which the Mississauga News is insinuating 1) That the Police are trying to avoid scandal. 2) There may be more corruption than we know.

None of this is suprising. Police are humans and no more resilient to the tempter than anyone else. But their is an age old saying from the good book "those who are given much, much will be expected". Should we expect greater accountability from our police and the department? Yes. I really don't want to knock someone who has been given a certain authority's sense of judgement but what kind of message is being sent to the public when a cop in your unit is ultimately given a slap on the wrist. Plain and simple thats what this is. Would you give a asian, black or hispanic male the same treatment a week in prison with pay for dealing drugs. This is an insult to tax payers and really a slap in the face to all the people who have made mistakes in the past and been "punished to the full extent of the law" for engaging in similiar drug related activites. Who knows maybe this guy is corroborating with the force because he has further information but the Peel Police's silence in the public's eyes will be seen more as an attempt to cover up police corruption than serving justice and the safety of the public. This guy should immediately be relieved of duties and made an example of by being tried as a serious offender. Any other job he would be fired on the spot. This is bad judgement and worse bad example from the leaders of the force.
