Week in review.... August 14th 12

The weeks are getting busier as the summer slowly comes to an end.  The next few weeks mark the end of an era in my life as my parents have sold the family home.  People keep asking how I feel about it and to be honest I don't have any particular feelings towards it either way.  I am more happy than anything for my folks as they are becoming a couple again which is a natural part of the evolutionary process.  I look forward to the times ahead and will remember with fondness the memories.  With this in mind I have been trying to keep up the posting which may at times seem a little scarce (working on that).

Last week I began writing about my aquarium, which unintentionally I had stopped doing.  I have been fighting one of the worst plagues of aquariums next to snails (in my humble opinion) : Black Algae.  So with that in mind I have begun to rebuild the tank removing the infested plants, rocks and wood.  My Rock Shrimps and loaches aren't particularly happy with me right now but they will be once I have upgraded their living quarters.

Other posts of interest are Not Quite Friday Thursday which is nothing other than Bloggin B's ranting about random happenings and his upcoming website development.  Hope you have a great week.  Cheers!!!

And in case you missed it here's a recap of the Photo's of the Day :

Today's Photo : Sharing a Meal

Snapped this photo at a summer birthday barbeque. The wasps had been out in full force that afternoon trying to get a sample of the beer, wine and sodas. These two guys got lucky finding a piece of scrap meat that was knocked off a plate.

Monday Madness

Another week and it looks like the rain has finally subsided. We've had heavy rain on and off for a number of days. Nothing in comparison to the situation in the philippines so I'm thankful for that. This week posting may be lite as I have a full schedule. My workout partner has been found so back to the rigorous training schedule ce soir. I also have a big move coming up in two weeks as the childhood home has been sold. My folks are heading into retirement and they have a tonne of things to be organized so that may cut a little into Bloggin B's routine. There were no crazy adventures (other than in my dreams) last weekend so I must confess this post may be very draw (Alfred voice). I have finally come around to working on the new website which should be ready to launch in the next two weeks so I am looking forward to getting that back on track. I despise getting behind on things but sometimes that's just the way it rolls. I also have an announcement coming up which if all goes as planned will coincide with the launch of the website. I hope everyone has enjoyed their summer so far and if you haven't there are still a few weeks left so get going already would ya!!! Have a great week. Cheerio!!!

Today's Photo is brought to you courtesy of Samsung SIII. The picture was taken up in Tobermory on a sunset cruise. If you've never been to Tobermory you should take a trip one summer the landscapes are gorgeous in the Georgian Bay area and the water is stunning.

Not quite Friday Thursday

Whenever I wake up and the sun isn't piercing my eyes I quickly glance out the window to confirm what I already know : gloom. Or its raining.  That's ok though because  I was planning on bringing Oscar with me everywhere today.  Its really WordPress' fault for sucking me into their abyss last night and filling my dreams with css coding equations and widget placements.  "What is he talking about?"  Who knows I just woke up and I felt like writing....  Today could be Friday but the calender man decided it wasn't so the world has to bear and gringe the fact that I want to sleep in.   How this effects you?  Oscar is with me today...

Enough of that let's get serious.... So I have begun the process of  building my website (slightly retarded on this) (late you goof). (See what I did there.) I was planning on lauching in July but scheduling didn't permit. Nevertheless I decided to give WordPress.org a try.   Do I like it? They allow flexibity with ads.  But its not really about the money.  Actually there isn't any money.  I write for love of the art.  Wordpress is for custimizability (not sure thats a word)  More so than Blogger who I currently use and enjoy.

So I decided to try out some themes.  I will spare the first theme/ company X a  bad rap.  I actually really liked company X's theme so I added it to my shopping cart and proceeded to check out.... Insufficient funds.  Okay sometimes paypal is finicky with realtime purchases so I'll use the creditcard.... Insufficent funds... Please top up.. Ok  find the topup section... click....  A new page pops up.  Minimum top up balance is $30.  BRAKES!!!! SKREECH!!!! SMOKE from tires.... (imagery is key to a good story) I promise no keyboards were hurt during the process.  So these yahoooos want me to give them 30 buckaroos for a dollar purchase because I am going to buy 30 more themes. Hmmm!!!!..... So after I told them to beat it!!  I moved on and explored a bunch of other themes from within WordPress and came to a decision which I would use.   Long story short I may have stayed up a little past my bedtime.  But I am closer to finishing a page.

I use to design my own pages but somewhere between HTML 4, CSS and HTML 5 I got lost and never found my way back.  Step out the game and it may take a minute to get back.  My schedule is pressed for time now so Wordpress will fill the void till I generate revenue to afford a superduper website.

My itinerary today has been slightly juxtaposed (all about creativity today) and so I have not posted my usual entries.  Everything seems a little off today including this English weather we are experiencing here in Mississauga.  I have lost close to ten pounds from when I started the Blodgett Slim Trim Plan.  Fifteen to go till I reach my phase one goal.Speaking of which my work out partner who went to Montreal last weekend I haven't heard from this week which is a little strange.  Maybe he found love.  I'll call him later.   I haven't had a cigarette in a month which is good.  I believe in Harvey Dent!!  Still haven't revealed the inner workings of my thoughts on Dark Knight Rises.  I will do that this weekend.
Which brings me to Jerk Fest.  Its this weekend.  Can't wait to chow down on the Ox Tail and Pigeon Pea Rice.   Mmmm.  Well now that I've got this day started time for some breakfast.  Hey look a rabbit....
Have a great Thursday.  And if you're thirsty have a drank.

Black Algae

Quite sometime ago I posted an entry about the aquarium I was building.  Well I have been forced to restart the tank from scratch due to a Black Algae (pictured on the wood below) infestation.  Green Algae is much easier to control and eliminate when it decides to take your Aquarium hostage, as many fish will actually eat Green Algae.  Black Algae not so much. Unfortunately Black Algae is not a snack for fish and is really hard to eliminate, especially once it takes root on plants and wood.  I fought the good fight for a few months and finally decided last week that it was time to retire the Flourish Excel, a plant mineral, which can help control it from growing, but due to the high lighting system I have on the tank even this failed.  So I decided that with rebuilding the tank I am going to share the experience via the blog.  I have lost one or two critters that I had in the tank, one who committed fish suicide last weekend, and one who vanished, but I will be adding some more new fish in the coming months.

The first step to rebuilding the tank will be to buy some plants which I will be quarantining for about a week or two as I have on occassion had a few snail infestations, which typically come as eggs attached to the roots of plants.  The other thing which I plan on doing is building a couple small little cave like systems for the smaller fish and invertebrates (shrimps, blue lobster, clams).  I have a few layout ideas for how to create an awesome looking tank but it will take sometime as rocks, wood, and aquarium furniture believe it or not actually add up to be quite costly.

Week in review.... August 7th 12

Its always nice to have an extra day on a weekend.  We had our Civic Holiday yesterday making this past weekend a long weekend, not that you actually get any more rest than usual, more like less due to the fact that you psychologically convince yourself that you have more time so you pack your schedule with more activities... but hey it was longer anywho.  Lots of Movie Trailer posts over the last few days with the upcoming Film Festival (TIFF).  I can't re post them here otherwise this synopsis will be twenty pages long.
Two weekends ago I traveled to Tobermory, a beautiful location in North Western Ontario re-known for its clear blue water.  I posted several pictures throughout the trip and they can viewed with 4 commentaries recorded along the way.  Arise Young One,  At the MoryBlue Lagoon, Tuesday is Monday.

I also upload the fourth set of pics from the Toronto Waterfront Festival along with some pics from Mississauga's Irie Fest.

Also Bloggin Blodgett passed the one year mark and discussed goals and learning curves.  Still to be announced is the one year anniversary give a way.  Stay tuned and have a great remainder of the week!
